Handwashing 18.4.20
Twenty seconds
Happy birthday twice
Seven steps correct order
Better get it right.
Soap and water
Or hand wash
To protect us from
The deadly you-know-what.
Hands that share
Their hard earned skills
Hands that soothe
Help the ill.
Wondering what Pilate thought
As his hands he washed
Heinous act of history
Abdicated responsibility
Our loving Saviour
in contrast
Hands- on
Till the last.
Never washed His hands
Off the crowds that pressed in
Never said ' no
My hands are aching'
Those hands healed the broken
Calmed the distraught
Dead raised to life
Kingdom values He taught.
At Calvary those hands
pierced with nails
Bloodstained
Lifeless and pale.
But that's not
The end of the story
Those resurrected hands
Will welcome us into His glory.
So as we wash our hands today
Let's extend His love and care
To the ones in need
His sheep to feed.
