Tree trunk. 6.7.20
(A story around a dead mango tree)
Strongly rooted
Deep in the earth
'twas dead
No fruits
No leaves
For years.
Mossy green
Easy to climb
Folks from here say
The mangoes were
Giant size.
Put up a good fight
Tug of war
The juggernaut won
Engine roaring
The tree trunk fell
The roots out
Their space now
Deep and raw.
Four feet across
Came down with a crash
Roots thick and long
Some still stuck fast
Beautiful it'd have been
In its prime
Leaves red and green
Bird calls in time,
Children's laughter
Shady boughs
Luscious fruit
Mouth's begun
To water..
Those feet
Quick climbing
Nimbly clambering
Wresting the fruit
From the greedy parrots
Have also aged
Hair thinner
And gray..
If that tree
Could talk
There'd be
No end to the stories
Yarns embroidered
Reliving it's days
Of glory
Reduced to a stump
Log of wood
But one day
When the earth's
Rebirthed
We'll see that
Tree come to life
Clapping
Maybe even giving a high five!!
