Habakkuk

Lord, I'm feeling down and blue

Discouraged and grumpy

Dare I say,

"Its all because of You?"

You know how we work

In the back of beyond-

Our resources always meagre

Our work, sold for a song.

Our budget -

completely topsy turvy

Unprecedented costs

Unnecessary worry

Stretched and compressed

By the endless flak

Protocols and bulletins

Do it this way and not that!

The one meter circles are painted

But footfalls so few

Income dismally low

What are we going to do?

Supplies and medicines

In pitiful state

How do we prioritise?

Whom to send and whom to take?

Existential questions

our heads are spinning

We're all worried

And we know we're not winning.

Its a story not unique

To us, lest we boast

But friends like us

are in the same boat.

Uncertainty looming

Is this 'curtains' for us?

Will we ever make it?

Will be totally crushed?

Staff morale really low

What's going to happen?

Don't really know.

But as Habakkuk said

When things went really bad-

There were no olives, grapes or figs

No crops from the land;

The sheep and cattle

Had disappeared too

Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Like what we're going through.

But Habakkuk didn't

Have a pity party, no sir!

No drowning in worries

Seemingly insurmountable fears.

We look in the Good book

to see what he said

The next verse starts

with a tiny-huge YET!

He said, though this devastation

Was all he could see

Yet, he would rejoice

in the God of Eternity!

The One who restores

beyond measure

So we praise Him

Our never failing treasure.

This is not the case of

Tough times never last

Tough people do;

Because we know how weak we are

Feeble and frail too.

So we will be glad

Because we have no Other!

And He sees us through

He is our Strong Deliverer.
